At Flux ‘n’ Flame we run 1, 2 and 3 day traditional jewellery courses over the weekends.
Our 1 day courses are designed to be suitable
for complete beginners who would like to try their hand at a new (and
completely addictive) skill. 1 day courses have a maximum capacity of
6 students.
You will be given a tour of the workshop to familiarise yourself with the tools and the health and safety requirements. Then we will help you to design either a simple silver ring or bangle. You will then start to make your piece!!! As you go you’ll be shown all of the basic traditonal jewellery making techniques from sawing and filing to soldering and finishing. You will also have a chance to experiment with some texturing to make your piece completely personal! You will leave your day with a beautifully finished ring or bangle and (hopefully) a HUGE smile on your face!
Our 2 and 3 day courses are also suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience who would like to learn new techniques or simple brush up on existing skills. The 2 and 3 day courses have a maximum capacity of 8 students and are taught by two tutors offering a fantastic student teacher ratio.
These weekends are designed to be as flexible as possible, allowing you to (with help!) create your own designs and work on your own project at your own pace. We don’t tell you what you have to make, within time limits you are free to make whatever you like and will be guided through the techniques as you go! As these courses are 2 or 3 days long you will have time to cover the basic techniques as well as experimenting with some of the more advanced techniques such as stone setting, acid etching, casting….its endless!!!
