Jesa Marshall

www.jesamarshall.co.uk

After completing a Foundation Diploma at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art & Design Jesa gained an Honors Degree in History of Art and Design at Winchester College of Art. Although she loved the world of art history she was frustrated by the lack of hands on creativity and began to make jewellery. She went on to study Precious Jewellery at Portsmouth University and finally at the Sir John Cass dept. at London Guildhall University.
Jesa has been working as a professional jewellery designer for over 12 years and has been teaching and running Flux ’n’ Flame since 2003.
Jesa’s work can be seen in shops and galleries and shows throughout the uk.
In 2009 she was awarded the Craft & Design Silver award for Jewellery and has recently been selected to create a collection of jewellery for the ‘Enchanted Palace’ exhibition at Kensington Palace.
Jesa combines precious metals with quality gem stones to create beautifully organic Jewellery. Her love for dark fairytales and all things weird and wonderful is manifested in her jewellery collections which incorporate tiny sculptures of birds, animals, plants and objects into wearable stories.
Jesa works to commission as well as producing work for galleries & exhibitions.

Al Marshall

Al has worked with metal for over 20 years during his previous career. A fascination for sculptural forms has led him to adapt his skills to create stunning jewellery.

He designs 'mechanically' influenced pieces, often simplistic forms with accents of texture or colour inspired by shapes found in nature and manmade structures.

He is highly skilled in metal forming / forging techniques and loves the challenge of creating three dimensional forms. Al's work often has technical features such as cunningly disguised clasps or mechanical elements hidden within a simple shape.

Alongside making Jewellery & teaching Al is revisiting his roots in building custom vehicles. With a love for motorcycles a 'Crow' inspired custom motorcycle is in the early stages of it's build, to see some of the things he's done have a look at Al's work.

Al works to commission as well as producing work for galleries & exhibitions. Al is a member of the Association of contemporary Jewellery. ( ACJ ).

Fran Barker

www.franbarkerdesign.co.uk

Fran has been teaching alongside Jesa & Al at Flux 'n' Flame since 2005.
After studying art and photography at Brockenhurst College, Fran completed a foundation national diploma in art and design at The Bournemouth Arts Institute. Here she evolved a passion for working in 3D and experimenting with metals.
Working in industry Fran developed her skills and gained valuable experience as a metalwork finisher for a specialist company making commissioned lamps and lanterns for interior designers. Here she aquired the skills of Acid etching, patinating and developed painting techniques.
Fran designs intricate and delicate pieces of jewellery using fabulous gemstones, often with mixed metals. Her interest in metals other than silver and gold means she creates technically challenging pieces which use cold joints, rivets and tiny chain work.
